Remote Teams
Remote teams are teams whose members work from different locations, whether from home, from different offices or across time zones. Many design and product teams work this way, fully or partly, and it changes how people communicate, collaborate and make decisions.
For product and design work, remote setups can give people more uninterrupted time to focus, but they also make it harder to share context, run workshops and build trust. Clear written communication, deliberate rituals and good tools become more important than in a shared office.
The two talks here are “Why work doesn’t happen at work” by Jason Fried at TED Talks in 2010 and “Building Happy Product Teams” by Laura Klein at Mind the Product in 2016. They are tagged with team management, cross-functional teams, design teams and productivity.
