Dan Lockton

Dan Lockton is a researcher at the School of Design at the Royal College of Art in England. He specialises in the links between design, understanding and human action, particularly behaviour change for social and environmental benefit. His research covers novel interfaces for energy monitoring in the home and how people understand and interact with systems. For his PhD at Brunel he developed Design with Intent, a multidisciplinary toolkit for designers working on behaviour change.

In “‘Understanding Understanding’ in Design for Behaviour Change” (2015), Dan Lockton looks at the role people’s understanding plays when designing for behaviour change.
