Emma Boulton
In her talk here, from UX Brighton 2018, Emma Boulton looks at what discovery research can look like when there is no budget or no dedicated researcher, or when discovery stops at stakeholder interviews and competitor research.
She argues that lab-based usability testing has become the industry’s default method even though it suits clearly defined solutions better than shaping the problem space, and shares real-world examples of discovery research done outside the lab. The talk is filed under user research, product discovery and interviewing.
