UX Brighton
UX Brighton brings together academic and commercial experts and curates its talks around a strong theme. Speakers are chosen to talk about how theory and research influence the way designers create products, from iPhone apps to ecommerce websites.
The recorded talks here span more than a decade. From 2010, Harry Brignull’s Dark Patterns looks at interfaces built to trick people, and in 2014 Susan Weinschenk and Nathalie Nahai spoke on perception and empathy. In 2017 Simon Wardley introduced Wardley Maps as a superpower for UX designers and Gerry McGovern showed how to measure customer effort with top tasks.
The 2018 edition focused on user research, with Kate Towsey on ResearchOps, Emma Boulton on real-world discovery research, Daniel Pidcock on Atomic UX Research and Will Myddelton on research heresies. More recently, Elizabeth Churchill spoke in 2023 on supporting designer and developer creativity, and Maggie Appleton in 2024 on generative AI and the dark forest of the web.
