Atomic Design
Atomic design is a methodology for creating design systems, described by Brad Frost. It breaks interfaces down into five levels: atoms (basic elements such as buttons and labels), molecules (small groups of atoms working together), organisms (larger sections of an interface), templates and pages. Building from small components up makes interfaces more consistent and easier to maintain.
For UI and product teams, the approach provides a shared vocabulary between designers and developers and encourages thinking in reusable components rather than one-off pages.
The talk here is Atomic Design by Brad Frost himself. Reusable components like those in the UI-Patterns.com library, such as cards, fit naturally into this way of working.
