Design for Engagement
Conference talk at UX Salon
· 46 min
Whether you design websites or shopping malls, hospitals or mobile phones, you are designing for people, and people want to be engaged by the products and services in their lives. But engagement comes in many forms, and traditional design practices say little about how to create it.
In this talk from UX Salon 2014, Jesse James Garrett, co-founder of the design consultancy Adaptive Path, argues that as design moves towards integrated experiences across media, designers need ways to understand modes of engagement and the mechanisms that create it. He looks at how designers of all kinds of products and services can maximize the human engagement of their work.
