Motion & Playfulness
Conference talk at CSS Day
Everyone enjoys delightful interfaces, yet polishing the user experience is rarely the priority when building new products. Animations are often considered superfluous, and any interaction effect or visual feedback that is not strictly required to make things work tends to be treated as low priority.
In this 2018 session, Benjamin De Cock, a Belgium-based designer who also loves coding, argues that a human-centred design process is in fact key to a product’s success. It helps create products people don’t only need to use, but want to use, driving up user satisfaction and engagement.
De Cock shares real-world examples and best practices for delivering efficient and enjoyable experiences, building a brand that conveys trust, and making customers happy. Small moments of motion and feedback like these are also described by patterns such as delighters and input feedback.
