First why and then trust

Conference talk at TED Talks
· 17 min

In this 2011 talk, listed under TED Talks, Simon Sinek, author of Start With Why, asks why some people and organisations are more innovative, more influential and more profitable than others, and why some command greater loyalty.

Studying the leaders who have had the greatest influence in the world, Sinek found that they all think, act and communicate in the same way, and that it is the opposite of what everyone else does. People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs and the Wright Brothers may have little in common, but they all started with why.

After why comes trust. When we surround ourselves with people who believe what we believe, trust emerges. The talk is relevant to anyone leading a team or building a product organisation.
