Almost Everything I've Learned From 5 Years of Lean UX
Conference talk at UX Poland
· 50 min
Agile has taken over software development and produced highly efficient engineering teams that are incentivized to ship bug-free code quickly. In this talk from UX Poland 2016, Jeff Gothelf, author of Lean UX, argues that what we have failed to do is give those teams a way to decide what they should work on, how to prioritize it, when it is done (shipping is not done), whether it meets customer expectations, and whether to keep designing and optimizing a feature.
Product teams need to practise effective product discovery methods that feed their delivery work at the same time. Jeff’s answer is collaborative, cross-functional teams that base decisions on evidence from the market, gained through hypotheses and experimentation. These teams bring product design, user experience, engineering, product management and organizational leadership together in a customer-centric effort to build the right product, and to build the product right.
