beyond tellerrand
beyond tellerrand was founded by Marc Thiele in 2010. The name mixes the English word “beyond” with the German phrase “Über den Tellerrand schauen”, literally “look beyond the edge of the plate”, or think outside the box. It expresses the aim of looking a little further and reflects the event’s global perspective.
The 20 talks recorded here span 2011 to 2016 and cover a wide range of web design subjects. Animation features in talks by Val Head and Rachel Nabors, typography and icons in talks by Jonathan Hoefler and Jon Hicks, and Brad Frost shares style guide best practices. Aaron Walter talks about building great design teams and Jeff Veen about crafting a creative culture. Jake Archibald and John Allsopp look at progressive enhancement and offline-first web apps, Karen McGrane discusses content, Des Traynor covers dashboards and data visualisation, and Aaron Gustafson speaks on designing with empathy.
