Bye, Bye Screen
Conference talk at beyond tellerrand
It is common to joke about a generation staring at their smartphones in almost every situation. In this talk from beyond tellerrand 2016, Andrea Krajewski, an industrial designer and professor for the Design of Interactive Media Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Darmstadt, argues that this will soon be overtaken by a very different scenario: one in which we, in a manner of speaking, move into our smartphones completely.
That shift happens because our living environment is becoming smart and wants to communicate with us, reacting intuitively, ideally before we know we are about to want something. Designers have been trained to create visual interfaces, which suits our image-driven brains. So what is left to design when there is only the user experience? Andrea takes a look beyond the screen.
