Digital Adaptation: Time To Untie Your Hands
Conference talk at Smashing Conference
· 46 min
Paul Boag, author of Digital Adaptation and a digital strategist with over 20 years of experience, gave this talk at Smashing Conference in 2014. It is aimed at anyone who feels they are doing their job with one hand tied behind their back: frustrated by antiquated company practices, or by a boss or client who doesn’t understand the unique characteristics of the web.
Boag explains that most traditional businesses are struggling to adapt to the digital economy and need the help of the web community, even if they don’t realise it. To build a great website, he argues, we have to act as the catalyst for organisational change.
The talk covers why so many organisations fail to adapt, why it falls to you to instigate a change in company culture, practical ways of starting that change, and why your primary job isn’t to build websites, whatever your boss or client might think.
