Forms are boring
Conference talk at Northern User Experience
· 27 min
Joe Leech, a user experience director at cxpartners in Bristol and author of the ebook Psychology For Designers, gave this talk at Northern User Experience in 2013. Few design projects sound less exciting than a form: the thought of laying out page after page of white boxes and labels can send the average designer to sleep.
Leech argues it doesn’t have to be that way. Using psychology, craft and a little sparkle, he shows how to design forms that are both fun to create and a pleasure to use. Form patterns such as input feedback, forgiving formats and inline hints are practical ways of applying that thinking.
